Litter Pick Sunday 24 November28/11/2019 In between the showers, fourteen residents assembled at Dunchideock Village Hall at 10am and walked our lanes bagging litter on their way.
Thirteen bags of litter were recovered, which is a magnificent result but shows just how much is still being discarded by uncaring people. The Village Hall Committee very kindly provided refreshments which included hot soup that was most welcome. Thank you to everyone (including the children with their parents) for their time and effort. Dunchideock ParishCouncil

Climate Emergency Question Time24/11/2019 Thursday 5th December 7-9pm at Coombeshead College's Bushell Theatre. Local parliamentary candidates answer your questions! mulled wine and mince pies.
Deciding how to vote has never been so difficult, and climate change and the environment aren't getting as much cover as they deserve. So, ACTion on Climate in Teignbridge has invited all of the candidates standing for the Central Devon and Newton Abbot constituencies to our Climate Emergency Question Time. When you book your place, you will have the opportunity to submit a question on how they would fight climate change and help our ecosystems recover. We will choose a representative selection which our Chair will ask every candidate. If any candidates can't attend, we will ask them to send someone to represent their views - not simply their Party manifesto's. Click here to book a place. We will also be celebrating ACT's first 5 months, in which we have been supporting the District of Teignbridge on its journey to becoming carbon neutral. After Question Time there will be mulled wine, mulled apple juice and mince pies - a good time to socialise and share views on the best ways to reach our ambitious goal! We now have around 200 members from all over the District, of which 50 are very active - but there is always room for more. We'd would love to see you there and hear your views! Please share this with any other Teignbridge Environment Groups. Click here to book a place.

Chair of Parish Council Resigns11/11/2019 The Parish Council is very sad to announce that Sarah Sharpe reluctantly resigned as a councillor and Chairman on 5 November because of ill health and for other personal reasons. This has come as a huge shock to us all.
She will be extremely hard to replace because she has led us so effectively, been such a great instigator and deliverer of projects for the community and effective communicator with our residents. The Parish Council, and hopefully very many in the community, will want to express their thanks to Sarah for her tireless work and excellent contribution to the well-being of our community. A Notice of a Vacancy has been posted which will expire on 27 November.

Highways Updates8/11/2019 The Parish Council has asked DCC Highways if the road surface near School Wood Quarry can be improved. Their response is:
"Although the area is not in particularly good condition , it does not currently meet safety intervention levels. Unfortunately funding is not available to treat the whole area this financial year , but there are some areas of serviceability that could be rectified to improve the condition , and as such we have made a request that this is considered. A scheme for future works has been promoted to deal with it in its entirety . In the meantime , it will continue to be monitored through formal safety inspections , and actions taken accordingly." The Parish Council has asked DCC Highways for the current situation regarding the drainage problems at Blacksmiths Hill. The response is "Enquiries have been made to see if funds are available for any possibility of the repairs being delivered this year . Unfortunately there is not , and the scheme will be designed this financial year , and delivered next." The possibility of placing salt bags and signs with regards to any potential ice risk this winter is being investigated.
