Goodbye Christopher Robin
We are now firmly ensconced back in Dunchideock Village Hall with its immaculate new ceiling. Normal service is resumed!
This film is the fascinating and moving story behind Winnie the Pooh which steals the spotlight in this film.
The WW1 veteran A. A. Milne (played by Domhnall Gleeson), was inspired by his son's collection of toys, but the whole family was to be swept up in the international success of the books with their fame coming at a heavy price.
"Winnie the Pooh occupies a sacred space in our hearts and anyone co-opting some of its magic must tread very lightly indeed." Says Mark Kermode in The Observer. "This film could easily have tripped (like Piglet) and burst its balloon, but instead it skips nimbly from light to dark as it evokes glades of happiness surrounded by two monstrous world wars."
Rotten Tomatoes gives it a healthy 78% from the public.
