General Parish History
There is a huge amount of history accummulated on the pages of Genuki.org.uk, including links to old maps (to view or to buy), the church, Dunchideock House, photos, etc. Go through to Genuki here.
Archie Winkworth, of Dunchideock House until 1997, wrote Memories of Dunchideock, a collection of his memories of the village, families and customs - this is available to view by clicking on the link. This was communicated to Genuki by Peter Kirk.
It's a fascinating collection of, amongst other information, historical meanings and spellings of Dunchideock, lords of the manor throughout the times, local families, the school, entertainment, transport and his section on Odds and Ends..! Do have a read.
The Conservation Area
Dunchideock has a conservation area and Teignbridge have recently (August 2018) published the recent Conservation Area Character Statement for Dunchideock which Teignbridge will upload their their website. You can view and download here as a pdf document the 2012 version and of course we will update you when the 2018 version is available.
Schooling
There used to be 2 schools in the village. The original school was part of The Old Post Office and was a fee paying school. The newer school was set up as a purpose-built school and is now the Village Hall.
